Dharamsala Attraction : Kangra Fort Kangra
Kangra Fort is an historical monument of Kangra town. It is famous attraction and frequently visited by the visitors. This massive fort once housed the royal residences and shrines in its highest part.
Location
It is located atop a hill at the confluence of Banganga and Patal Ganga river (also known as the Majhi), in the south western outskirts of the old Kangra town. It is situated at a 20 KM distance from Dharamsala
About Kangra Fort
Kangra Fort was built by Bhuma Chand, the founder of Katoch Dynasty and is also known by other names, Nagarkot and Kot Kangra.To entered in the fort to used the a small courtyard enclose between two gates which are known as Patak and only date from the Sikh period.Inside the fort there is a narrow passage that leads up to the top of the Fort through the Ahani and Amiri Darwaza, both attributed to Nawab Alif Khan, the first governor of Kangra.

Fort is speard over the 4 kms area.
The Darwazas : To access in this ancient fort is gained from the "Ranjit Singh Darwaza" which leads to the "Jahangiri Darwaza" through the Ahni and Amiri Darwazas. First Mughal governor of Kangra, Nawab Alif Khan was constructed last 2 darwaza. There is a path from Jahangiri Darwaza to Andheri Darwaza. From Andheri Darwaza the path divides itself into two. One is lead to Darshani Darwaza.
Temples : The end of the Darshani Darwaza there is a two temple Lakshmi Narayan Temple and the Sitlamata Temple. These also the prime attraction of the fort.In year 1905 when earthquake came then has caused much damage to the temples, still both these temples have exquisite carvings to delight you.
On the north of these two temples is the Ambika Devi Temple is stand that is still used for the purpose of worshipping.To the south of the Ambika Devi Temple, stand two small Jain temples which are in a bad shape and need instant repair.
Mahal and the Tower : There is a Mahal known as Sheesh Mahal is located between the Sitlamata Temple and the Ambika Devi Temple. The mahal is a block of stone with a big terrace on the edge of which stands a polygonal watchtower.
