About Govind Dev Ji Temple

Govind Dev Ji Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna.Raja Sawai Jai Singh II, brought the image of Lord Krishna from Vrindavan. He was the founder of Jaipur. Some people say that the image of Lord Krishna's in the temple looks exactly like Krishna's form during his incarnation on Earth. This temple is situated in the City Palace complex so that this temple is under the direct control of the royal family.

History

The Great Grand Son of Lord Shri Krishna "Bajranabh" was created the idol of Lord Krishna. Once upon a time a Bajranabh asked his grand mother to describe as how Lord Shri Krishna looked like. So that on the basis of description given by his grand mother, he made the idol of Lord Shri Krishna. When he show the idol of his grand Mother then she said that only feet of the idol are similar as of Lord Shri Krishna. So that he created another image of Lord Krsihna and again shown it to his grand mother. After see the idol of Lord Krishna his grand mother told him that the chest of this new idol is similar as of Lord Shri Krishna. So that Bajranabh again created one more idol. At this time the grand mother said him that the idol is very similar as of Lord Shri Krishna.

Fist Idol that was created by Bajranabh is known as Lord Madan Mohan Ji

Second one was known as Lord Gopi Nath Ji

The third idol is called Lord Govind Dev Ji.

Here Daily poojas includes aarties, which are conducted seven times a day.

Main Festivals in Govind Dev Ji Temple : Janamashtami is celebrated at very large scale in the temple.
