    Shimla Attraction - Kali Bari Temple

    Kali Bari Temple is a holiest pilgrim center in Shimla. This temple is dedicated to "Goddess Shyamala" who is also known as Goddess Kali.This temple is located at Jakhu hill. But it was shifted to its present location (near the Mall) by the British and is reachable by taxi within 10 minutes. Kali Bari Temple is in close proximity to the Shimla city mall. Shyamala Goddess has multiple aliases, including Kali and Durga.

    History
    In year 1845, Kali Bari Temple was built. This is a 19th century temple. It was constructed during the era of the British Raj. According to historians, the original shrine was established by the Bengali devotees .

    Temple Design
    Kali Bari Temple is very popular among Hindu pilgrims. In this temple there is a wooden image of the Goddess Shyamala is worshipped.

    Best Time to Visit
    Best time to visit the Kali Bari Temple is during the Navratra and Dussehra festival in month of October, when the temple is flooded with devotees.
