About Majathal Sanctuary

Majathal Sanctuary is main tourist attraction in Himachal Pradesh. This Sanctuary is speard over an area of 39.4 square kilometers area and varying altitudes of 900 to 1,966 meters above sea level. It is a great place for trekking, jungle safaris, wildlife education and bird watching. Here tourist enjoy the snow capped glaciers, picturesque mountains, flowing rivers and enchanting lakes.

This sanctuary has the highest concentration of Goral which can be seen in its natural habitat.

Flora in Majathal Sanctuary

Majathal Sanctuary has a plush with green layers of grass forest. This dense forest is covered with oak trees, kharsu and moru species.

Fauna in Majathal Sanctuary

In Majathal Sanctuary you see the rare cheer pheasant, goral. Goral is a small goat like animal with cylindrical horns. Other animals you can sight are rhesus macaque, Himalayan black bear, jungle cat, leopard, yellow throated marten, Himalayan palm civet, barking deer, sambar, Indian wild bear and langur.

In Bird watch you can visit the white vulture, black francolin and kaleej and koklas pheasants.
