About Temple
Eklingnath Temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva of the Hindu religion. Bappa Rawal was built the was built this temple in 734 A.D. Eklingji has been the deity of the royal Mewar family since the time of Bappa Rawal, founder of the Mewar dynasty. The word Eklingji is drived form Ek means 'one' while ling means 'lingum or the life giving phallic symbol of Lord Shiva'. The place is very important as it was the place where Bappa Rawal received religious discourse from his guru, Harit Rishi.
It believed that Acharya Vishwaroop have been founded this temple.
Temple Structure
The temple is spread over 2500 sq feet area and towers to a height of 65 feet. Eklingji Temple is the houses a 50 feet high multi-faced black stone statue of Lord Shiva. The head facing west represents Brahma the god of creation, the south facing face depicts Maheshwar, the one facing north represents Vishnu while the east turned one represents Surya or Sun. The entrance of the temple contains a beautifully sculpted huge Nandi, which is the loyal steed of Lord Shiva.
Temple complex houses 108 temples chiselled out of sandstone and marble.
Open Time of Temple : Temple open 4 :15 AM to 6:45 AM then 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and lastly from 5.15 PM to 7.45 PM (timings need to be checked before a visit to conform any changes).
