Gun Hill also has a historical significance dating back to pre-independence. It is believed a big gun or canon was fired from the Gun Hill every afternoon, in order to help people know the time and adjust their watches accordingly. This firing provided an idea of time to the local residents. Tourists can witness snow capped peaks of Himalayas and The Mall on either side of the place.

Major attraction of this hill is cable car ropeway and the peak offers some surpassing views of the Himalayan ranges . The name of Himalayan ranges are Bunderpunch, Pithwara, Shrikanta and Gangotri. Another main attraction of this hill is balloon shooting.
