    Manali Attraction - Urusvati Himalayan Folk Art Museum Naggar

    In year 1928 Professor and Madame Nicholas Roerich was founded theUrusvati Himalayan Folk Art Museum. It is just 100 m up hill from the Nicholas K. Roerich Art Gallery. It was established as Research Institute of Naggar.

    Main aim to established the folk art museum is to provide a place of study and research on the Tibetan medicines , Indian traditional and the history and the ethos of the Himalayan region. In year 1993, this Museum got its present name. 'Uruswati'  mean 'Light of the Morning Star' and it has been taken from Sanskrit.

    Special Things
    Main attraction of this aken from Sanskrit are Russian and local folk art, Roerich paintings and those of his Russian followers and costumes.  The museum save the paintings made by Roerichs and also those made by Indian and Russian artists. This gallery is dedicated to the Russian folk art.IT also has dolls painted dishes, musical instruments, stone carvings, oil paintings by Russian painters etc.

    Here you see the collection of  traditional costumes of Ladakh, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Tibet and beautiful idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses or you can see the picture of Lord Buddha , doorframes, crystal pieces etc.

    Urusvati Himalayan Folk Art Museum open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. except Mondays.

    How to reach 
    To reach here you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw from Naggar bus stop.
