    Palampur Tourist Attraction : Baijnath Temple Palampur

    Baijnath Temple is an old holy shrine near Palampur. It is located at Kangra. It is the most magnificent monument in Kangra Valley.

    About Temple
    Baijnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the inscriptions on the walls, in 1204 A.D This temple was established by regional merchants, named Ahuka and Manyuka. Structure of this temple gives the hints of the early medieval North Indian style of architecture. This type of structure used to be known as 'Nagara' style of temple. Ttemple is located in a well maintained complex of gardens, lawns and pathways in a single walled courtyard.

    It believed that the water of Baijnath Temple has the medicinal properties, which can cure diseases of people.

    History of Temple
    According to hindu mythology, Ravana had worshipped Lord Shiva in this temple only and he had sacrificed his head ten times. This event is marked out in the temple.

    Highlights of Temple
    Highlights of the shrine are the inscriptions on the porch of the temple that indicates a shrine of Lord Shiva’s existence before the construction of the temple. Water of this temple has medicinal properties.
