Palampur Tourist Attraction : Tashi Jong Monastery Palampur

Palampur is quite a bustling town with a large street bazaar. Tashi Jong Monastery is prime tourist attraction of Palampur. Tashijong is a community rather than a monastery.

This Monastery is located on Dhauladhar mountains in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh

The Monastery is Curved roofs mounted with red-golden colour ornamentation portray prayer flags. There is a thick loom like stupa, which is typical of a Buddhist shrine, adorns the extreme side of the garden, which is the good example of craftsmanship.. The Monastery has a prayer halls where the monks carry out their routine prayers. One of the highlights of the complex is the monastery, which has decorated walls depicting Tibetan culture and traditions.

Monastery is more of a community than a religious centre of Buddhists and home to the Drukpa Kagyu school of Buddhism.This monastery depicts structures at different levels, there is a college for freshers and a Tibetan restaurant. It is also a home of Tibetan artefacts, paintings and articles at the craft emporium.

Tashi Jong complex have provided refuge to several Tibetans. It is frequented by the peace seekers and Buddhist pilgrims all the year round.
