    Maya Devi Temple is one of the Siddhapeeth in Haridwar. Maya Devi Temple is one of the Shakti Peethas present in India.

    Location : Maya Devi Temple is located to the east of Har ki Pauri, Haridwar and is easily accessible.

    About Temple :
    This temple came into existence in 11th century. People believed that the heart and navel of goddess Sati (First wife of Lord Shiva) fell in the region where the temple stands today. Lord Shiva took Sati's burnt body and set off on a tour across the universe. So that sometimes this temple is referred to as a Shakti Peetha. The temple of Maya Devi falls is enshrined with the deity of Adhisthatri.

    Maya Devi Temple  is one of the three ancient holy shrine of Haridwar, which are still intact, the other two being Narayana-shila and Bhairava Temple. Inner temple consists of idol of goddesses Maya in the centre, Kamakhya on the right, Kali on the left. Maya Devi Temple is one of the Siddhapeeths of Haridwar, and a vertex of the Siddhapeeth triangle formed between Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi and Maya Devi temples.

    You trip of Haridwar is incomplete without seeking the blessings of Goddess Maya Devi.

    History
    Maya Devi temple carries a lot of significance in the mythological history of Haridwar. Goddess Maya is the Adhisthatri deity of Haridwar. Goddess Maya is a 3-headed and 4-armed deity who is believed to be an incarnation of Shakti . Previously Haridwar was known as Mayapuri.  According to the religious beliefs, it is said that the naval and heart of Sati fell in the same place where the Maya Devi temple stands today.  It is one of few ancient temples still standing in Haridwar, along with Narayani Shila temple and Bhairav Temple.
