Gwalior Attraction : Teli Ka Mandir Gwalior

Teli Ka Mandir is an historical temple and positioned within the Gwalior Fort. The English version of Teli Ka Mandir is Oilman's Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu but was later converted to the worship of Lord Shiva.

About Temple

The constructed of Teli Ka Mandir during 8th century or 11th century by Pratihar Kings. It is oldest temple of the fort, which portrays a collaboration of South Indian and North Indian architectural styles. The temple’s architecture, design are rather exciting and delineate the skill and experience of the ancient craftsmen and architects.

Teli-ka-Mandir is a significant, towering statue of 100 feet. It has a unique architectural style and resembles a Pratihara Vishnu temple. The decorations are of the Nagara style, a well-known art form of North India. Temple architecture is a combination of the Dravidian (from South India) and the Indo-Aryan (North Indian) style . Roof of this temple is typically Dravidian and sculptures and embellishing inside are Indo Aryan.

The entrance door of this temple has a torana or archway accompanied by beautifully decorated sculpted images. The colossal image of 'Garuda' (Mount of Lord Vishnu) is the major attraction of Teli Ka Mandir.
