About Lalbagh Palace
Lalbagh Palace was built between 1886-1921 and Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar was constructed it. Lalbagh Palace is spread over the 28 hectares Land and it is architecturally fairly comparable to the New Palace. Palace symbolizes the fascinating life style and the innovative eye of the Holkars with gorgeous surrounding around the palace which reflects there lifestyle. This place is surrounded by marvelous well maintained gardens.
The main purpose of building the palace was to make a conference place of the important individualities of the Kingdom and for keeping the celebrations held there, many Royal reception also took place in this palace
History :
Under Tukoji Rao Holkar II, the construction of Lalbagh palace began in year 1886. In year 1921 it was completed under Tukoji Rao Holkar III. It is a three storey building, entrance hall on the ground floor is in marble and displays prehistoric artifacts. On the first floor there is fine coin collection which dates back to the Muslim period.
