Sapt Rishi Ashram works for the revival of Hindu traditions and famous for having hosted seven (sapt) sages (rishis). Sapt Rishi Ashram is also famous as Sapt Sarovar or Sapt Rishi Kund, is a popular site in Haridwar.
It is the that place where sapt (meaning seven) rishis (meaning sages) had once performed meditation. According to hindu mythology the name of these seven sages as Kashyapa, Vishwamitra, Gautam, Vashisht, Jamadagi, Bhardwaja and Atri. It is believed that Ganga river split herself into seven different streams at this spot, the reason to avoid any disturbance to the seven sages meditating in the ashram. So that the Rishis would not be disturbed by the flow.
Now a day the complex of Sapt Rishi Ashram houses residential hostels for poor students and a college where Sanskrit is taught. To attain spiritual peace and happiness not only believers of Hinduism, but tourists also from all across the globe arrive at the ashram.
